7. Fun Facts about the Nile River What direction do all rivers flow? Speculated to be the longest river in the world, Amazon is close in length. 4, 184 miles long! Home to the Nile Crocodile In 2004 the White Nile Expedition was the first group to navigate the entire Nile River. It took them 4 months and 2 weeks to complete

8. The Nile… Waterfalls in the south of Egypt and river delta in the northern region of Egypt Nile River empties into the Mediterranean Sea. This is the delta region, which has very fertile soil. The Nile River flows through 9 countries, only 22%, or about 990 miles of the Nile, flows through Egypt.

10. Black Land The fertile land surrounding the Nile River was called the Black Land. On this map the green shaded area represents the Black Land. Red: Mines (Copper, Iron, Gold, Turquoise) Blue: Quarries- Limestone, sandstone, granite

11. Red Land The land outside of the Black Land was desert. This land was known as the Red Land. The desert acted as a barrier that protected Egypt as it was difficult to travel across. 8 Months of the year were sunny & hot, 4 months of winter which was sunny and cooler. Received about 1 inch of rain a year.

18. Temple complex of Edfu. One of the best preserved temple sites because it had been buried in the sands of Egypt. Second largest temple complex in Egypt.
