2.  Albert the bull, has been guarding the streets since 1964, in Audubon.  Albert the bull is 45 tons and 30 feet high of concrete, and if you push his button it will tell his story.

3.  There are two Black angels in Iowa. Their is one in Iowa City and one in Council Bluffs.  The Black angel was made by Teresa Dolezal Feldevert, and her son Eddie. When Eddie died Teresa finished the angel, then she moved to Eugene, Oregon where she married Nicholas Feldevert. When he died he got buried by Eddie. A few years later Teresa got buried right under the angel, and all of the legends started and started turning eerie black.

4.  On October 16,1869 the Cardiff giant was discovered by workers digging a well behind the barn of William C.  The Cardiff giant was a 10 foot tall statue of stone.

5.  Des Moines is Iowa`s capitol.  Des Moines is the only capitol with a solid gold top!!!!!

6.  The Eastern Goldfinch is Iowa's state bird and was adopted in 1933.  The Eastern Goldfinch is commonly found in Iowa, and stays all year round. Female Male

7. It is monumental on the bank of the Missouri River at Sioux City, Iowa. Charles Floyd is what the Floyd Monument is about.

8.  Geode is the Iowa`s state rock. It`s usually filled with crystals.  Geodes are sphere shaped stones, and mostly hollow.

9.  Hawkeye State is Iowa`s nickname.  Mostly everyone calls it the Hawkeye State.

10.  The first Iowa State Fair was staged in a Fairfield in 1854, it cost $323.00 to play in the Fairfield.  The Butter Cow came to the fair in 1911. The cow is 600 pounds.

11.  John Wayne`s real name is Marion Robert Morrison. He was born in Winterset, Iowa.  His family moved to California when he was only four.

12.  He was born on 1767, along the Rock River. He died on1848 at the age of 58.  He was the chief of the Sauk Indian tribe. In the town Saukanak.

13.  Log cabins were very popular when Abe linchon was growing up. But the log cabins started to catch on fire a lot.  Log cabins are very old, but they still exist today. Now they are new and redesigned. Today's Abe's birthplace

14.  The Mississippi River is one of the largest river system in size.  Also it is the 3 rd longest river in North America. 

15. ◦ Iowa has 99 counties in the state! ◦ The counties Des Moines County and Dubuque County, were created in 1834. ◦ Pottawattamie county is the largest county in Iowa. ◦ Pottawattamie county is on the southwest side of the state.

16.  The oak tree is Iowa's state tree.  It became the state tree in 1961. it became the state tree because it gave food, shelter and nesting to many animals. Shelter for the animals. winter spring summer fall

17.  Iowa`s prairies covered most of the northeast Iowa. The prairie covered 85%of Iowa's land.  The prairie was 30 million acres. The prairies are making a comeback.

18.  Quaker Oats was started in Cedar Falls, Iowa.  That’s north east of the state.  Quaker Oats makes oatmeal, cereal, wheat, oats and more.

19.  Iowa has four rivers. The rivers names are Mississippi River and the other one is Missouri River.  Those aren't all of the rivers the other two are Big Sioux River and the Des Moines River. There are so many more but these are the most common rivers.

20.  The song of Iowa is called “ Song of Iowa.”  The song goes like this.  You asked what land I love the best, Iowa, tis Iowa, The fairest State of all the west, Iowa, O! 21.  Since 1871, Iowa has had eleven F5/EF5 tornadoes (the most intense damage category on the and damage scales - less than 1% of tornado occurrences - wind speeds greater than 200 mph).  Since 1950, the United States has experienced fifty-two F5/EF5 tornadoes. Six of these tornadoes have occurred in Iowa. This ties both Kansas and Texas for the greatest number of F5/EF5 tornadoes. 

22. In 1902, the town was incorporated, a town marshall appointed, sidewalks constructed and a jail built at the cost of $140. The first addition to the town was presented to the town council in 1903. The old school house was moved onto town property and made into a town hall. In 1905, five street lamps were purchased, sidewalks and streets were extended. From 1907 to 1910 the telephone came to town, a water works system was installed and cement sidewalks constructed. By 1917 a fire department was organized. In 1926 a new consolidated school was built at the cost of approximately $75,000. There were 62 students in high school and 116 in the grades with seven teachers in charge.

23.  On June 10 th, 1912, a family of six, two adults  ( Josiah Moore, age 43 and his wife, Sarah Montgomery (Moore), age 39) and their four children (Herman Moore, age 11, Katherine Moore, age 9, Boyd Moore, age 7 and Paul Moore, age 5), with two of Katherine's friends (Lena Stillinger, age 12 and her sister Ina, age 8), were murdered with an axe, by an unknown murderer. The murder was never solved.

24.  The Wild Rose became the official state flower in the year of 1897.  The Wild Rose colors are pink, white, orange- red, red, or an purplish-pink. .

25. Late in the 19 th century, a group of scientist was conducting experiments in which they discharged electric currents through air in a partially evacuated (Crooks) tube, inside of which stood a negative and a positive electrode. By January 1896 Wilhelm Roentgen's discoveries had spread throughout Europe and North America. Many scientists in the U.S conducted experiments to confirm Roentgen's findings.

26.  Yale, Iowa is a small town in Iowa. The population for 2010 is 246. The biggest population number Yale has ever had was in 1970 and the population was 300.   As of the census[4] of 2000, there were 287 people, 125 households, and 75 families residing in the city. The population density was 969.8 people per square mile (369.4/km²). There were 130 housing units at an average density of 439.3 per square mile (167.3/km²).

27.  The Zoo opened on May 8, 1966. Blank Park Zoo is a zoo on the south side of Des Moines, Iowa near Fort Des Moines. In 1963, Mr. A.H. Blank donated $150,000 ($916,000 in 2005 dollars) for the construction of a children's zoo on decommissioned Fort Des Moines property.   The Des Moines Children’s Zoo was officially opened on May 8, 1966. It was originally designed around nursery rhymes and included a castle with moat, a replica of Noah's Ark, petting zoo and miniature railroad.
