DR is located in a island called Hispaniola. The terrain there is rugged highlands, mountains with fertile valleys.

Religion: 95% Roman Catholic and 5% other religion. Music/Typical Dance: “Perico Ripiao” it’s similar to merengue but faster.

The cross in the middle means sacrifice, the blue means liberty, the red means fire and blood of independence. The emblem shows a bible, a cross of gold, four Dominican flags and two spears on a pattern from the flag ;branches of olive and palm around the shield, on a ribbon above there is a motto “Dios, Patria, Libertad” (“God, Fatherland, Liberty”). On the bottom there is another ribbon saying the country's name “Republica Dominicana”. Flag adopted November 6, 1844

Born: September 22, 1924 Died: April 22, 2011 Born in San pedro deme-coris, Republica Dominicana. He was a famous poet, he also was a lawyer and a teacher. He graduated from Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo. Dominican independence day is on February 27 th. They do a big parade and party in the capital Santo Domingo.
