5. Recent History Thailand is currently in the recovery stages from the December 2004 Tsunami. They have installed three early warning towers that are linked by satellite to Thailand's National Disaster Early Warning Centre in Bangkok. They first set off a siren and then announce tsunami pre-warnings, emergency warnings or all-clear signals in Thai, English, Chinese, Swedish and German. The main tower can be heard 2km away.
