Design Brief  We have been asked to design/make a cardboard chair that is strong enough to hold a student. Also, if it is strong enough to try and hold a teacher.

Specifications  The chair must be made out of cardboard and glue only.  The chair must be comfortable.  The chair must be made out of cardboard and glue only.  The chair must be comfortable.

Research  While working on the project we didn’t really do much research on how to build it but we used some of our personal Ideas we got for other places and looked over the videos and Idea packet for the project.

Design Ideas  Some of our ideas included making the chair in the shape of a square or box like form. We also had the idea of making the base in a hockey shaped way as well as having rolled up cardboard legs. The problem about this design is that the legs would be unstable so we then decided to make our chairs legs closer to the ground so that they wouldn’t collapse.

Step by Step Plan  The first step was to know how to design the cardboard chair in order for it to work out right.  Next, we had a group member draw out the chair design.  Then, we made a few changes to see if the chair would hold up and stay steady.  After, that we started to make the idea on the cardboard.  Then, we all decided to work in two separate groups so that the chair gets done faster.  Finally, we were able to work in two groups which in reality got a lot done for us in the time period.  The first step was to know how to design the cardboard chair in order for it to work out right.
