WHO ARE WE? 2 Skills/Compétences Canada is a national, not-for-profit organization that actively promotes careers in skilled trades and technologies to Canadian youth. We are one of 13 Skills Canada organizations located in each province and territory. To expose youth to trade and technology occupations by developing and delivering educational programs and activities for youth, educators, parents and others.

QUICK FACTS ON CAREERS IN THE TRADES 8 ◦the Canadian construction sector says it will need 300,000 new workers over the next 10 years; ◦the Canadian mining sector says it will need 145,000 new workers over the next 10 years; ◦the Canadian petroleum sector says it will need 150,000 new workers by 2022; ◦the Canadian supply chain sector says it will need 357,000 new workers by 2020 (Government of Canada, 2014) “Furthermore, Canada faces a shortage of one million tradespeople by 2020, as many people in that field will be retiring” (Racanelli, 2014)
