Welcome to 3rd Grade! This is an important year for you! I will give you an introduction to 5th grade and to our classroom. If you have any questions during my presentation, please ask.

All About Me I am originally from New York My family farmed and we moved to Cottondale where I grew up. I attended Cottondale High School, Chipola Jr. College, The University of Florida, and the University of West Florida The University of Florida, and the University of West Florida

My Accomplishments I have 30 years of teaching experience. I have a Master’s Degree in education. I am currently a National Board Certified Teacher

My Family I am a married women of 15 yrs. My family consists of a husband and two wonderful sons, one very special dog and two lazy cats.

Goals To give you the academic tools in 3 rd grade to successfully achieve the standards necessary to be promoted to the 4 th grade. To provide a supportive learning environment while enjoying learning new things. To open the windows and discover the unknown.

Class Content We will cover all the standards necessary as mandated by the Department of Education for Reading, Math, and Science Reading, Math, and Science in Third Grade. in Third Grade. We will be tested this year in the area of READING and MATH on the FCAT. Reading FCAT must be passed for promotion.

Homework AR will be a nightly assignment and parents are urged to help monitor your child’s reading. Ask questions about the book, make it an exciting time for you both. Homework will be assigned only when necessary. Planner are to help organize homework; parents, please sign planners nightly Please be sure homework is completed neatly.

Tardiness & Attendance The school day begins at 7:50 each day. Students arriving to school after 7:50 are considered tardy. You must have a parent sign you in and you will receive a tardy pass to enter the classroom. Please remember that it’s very important to be in school. Try not to miss school unless it is necessary. Please bring a note the day after an absence, so it will be excused.

Field Trips We will notify you of field trips as they are scheduled. We will keep one notarized form in the office and send a regular permission slip home for the field trips for additional information.

Parent Help We have a need for regular parent volunteers. Please let the office know if you are able to help with this. There are also times when I will need someone or something for a project or special event. Let me know if you can help in these areas.
