Second Semester Methods Courses READ 3226: Teaching Reading to Intermediate grade Learners ELED 3223: Teaching Social Studies to Elementary Grade Learners ELED 3221: Teaching Science to Elementary Grade Learners ELED 3226: Teaching Language Arts to Elementary Grade Learners MAED 3224: Teaching Mathematics to Intermediate Grade Learners You must be in at least 3 (including Lang. Arts) to participate!

5. Suggested timeline TimelineActivities Initial Meeting with Co-op Teacher Two-three weeks prior to start of clinical experience. Student will make contact to set this date. Classroom Introduction Share Curriculum plans Discuss potential SS/Science/Math/ Reading lesson topics and objectives Conduct a Teacher Interview protocol Develop a schedule for the two week experience that allows you to log minimum 16 hours each week Initial meeting can occur during or outside of school hours and should last no longer than one hour

Suggested timeline TimelineActivities Week One 16 Hours Collect observational field notes and classroom documents Conduct observations and informal conversations with small groups of students Stay actively engaged in the classroom Participate in read alouds, small group/center instruction or monitoring, or other activities that are appropriate for gaining experience Develop and implement small group reading and math activities Do NOT monitor students without co-op teacher present Attend mid-point seminar on Thursday or Friday with University Coordinator (hour can be logged)

Suggested timeline TimelineActivities Week Two 16 Hours Teach one social studies/science/reading and math lesson Use the direct instruction lesson plan for social studies/reading and an indirect plan format for the science lesson Lesson format for math is included in the handbook Seek guidance and feedback from co-op teacher as you prepare and implement the lessons. Have co-op teacher complete the Lesson Feedback Form for each lesson. Complete any leftover assignments from week one Attend final seminar on Thursday or Friday with University Coordinator (hour can be logged)
