Kiwanis Cal-Nev-Ha Foundation Its Beginning... Recognizing the serious need for education and training in the areas of pediatric trauma and injury prevention, the Kiwanis Cal-Nev-Ha Foundation established the Pediatric Trauma Program in 1994.

Kiwanis Cal-Nev-Ha Foundation Why PTP? Unintentional injury remains the #1 killer of children age 14 and under in the U.S. Unintentional injury kills more kids every year than any other cause – including disease, homicide and suicide!

Kiwanis Cal-Nev-Ha Foundation Why PTP? These injuries cost society $157 billion 1 annually! 90% of these injuries could be prevented! 1 Includes direct medical costs, future earnings lost and lost quality of life

Partner Hospitals –The Foundation’s partnership with six children’s hospitals connects the Kiwanis family to the issue of Pediatric Trauma –Utilizing the knowledge and expertise of our partner hospitals, we identify projects the Kiwanis family can undertake to address the issue of Pediatric Trauma

Kiwanis Cal-Nev-Ha Foundation PTP Project Ideas Sponsor a bicycle rodeo, child safety fair or child safety seat inspection event Purchase and distribute bicycle helmets, child safety seats, electric outlet covers, choke tubes, etc. Educate parents about common dangers found around the home Distribute dolls to children’s hospitals or provide teddy bears to first responders to comfort children
