2 Lesson Objectives At the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to :-
identify the legacies of the ancient Greeks value the triumph of human ingenuity and resourcefulness express thoughts and feelings in a group display desirable traits of a self-directed learner

3 Tuning In Activities Re-cap : - What have we learnt in Lesson 1?

4 Re-cap Ancient Greeks were communities of people who lived in present-day Greece. They adapted to their environment and built cities near the sea. They planted crops that suit the climate and land conditions such as grapes and olives. They interacted with one another through sea travel. The ancient Greeks influenced thinking, architecture, the arts and sciences and the lives of many people who lived throughout the Greek empire.

5 Lesson Development Round Table Step 1 : Pupils assigned to research on the same legacy are to sit together Step 2 : Take turns to share your findings with your group mates Step 3 : In your group, decide what are the key points of the legacy assigned to you present all key points on the butcher paper provided – in point form Step 4 : Display your butcher paper once you are ready

6 Gallery Walk Step 1 : You will be given 10mins to take a walk around the class and read about the legacies of ancient Greece Step 2 : As you read about each legacy, paste a sticker on the information that you find most interesting. You are only allowed to paste 1 sticker on each legacy

Greek civilisation influenced Roman civilisation Later, both civilisations were to deeply impact Western civilisation in Europe Europe spread its culture and knowledge around the world through colonialism

Originated in Athens Practiced in some other Greek states Only male citizens could vote – not women or slaves First system where mass votes were used to make decisions How is our modern Democracy more inclusive? In Singapore you can vote if: You are a citizen of Singapore i.e. holder of a Pink-coloured Identity Card; You are at least 21 years old; and You are ordinarily resident or deemed to be ordinarily resident in Singapore at an address that is in that constituency.
