1
Christ and the Church “This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church” - Ephesians 5:32
2
Christ and the Church HeadHeadBody
3
Ephesians 1:22-23 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. Inseparable Headship indicates authority One head / One body (Unity)

Christ and the Church Head King Body Kingdom
5
1 Timothy 6:15 - 16 …He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, 16 who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Kingship indicates authority Lordship indicates authority He is worthy of Honor!
6
Matthew 16:18-19 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” Church and Kingdom are one and the same
7
Christ and the Church Head King Savior Body Kingdom Saved
8
Ephesians 5:23 For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. There is one Savior. Indicated in scripture (cf. Luke 2:11) “a Savior, which is Christ the Lord” There is no savior other than Jesus
9
Acts 2:47 …And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved. Salvation is only in the “body” or “church” of Christ The only way to have salvation outside the Lord’s church is to be saved without a Savior!
10
Christ and the Church Head King Savior Builder Body Kingdom Saved Building
11
Matthew 16:18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. Christ and the church go together as a builder and building Christ fulfilled his promise
12
1 Corinthians 3:9 For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building.
13
Christ and the Church Head King Savior Builder Husband Body Kingdom Saved Building Bride
14
2 Corinthians 11:2 For I am jealous for you with godly jealousy. For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. Chastity is a call to purity As members of the Lord’s church, we are to be righteous in the life we live
15
Ephesians 5:32-33 This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband. As the church, we should submit to (respect) the Christ As the bride, we should wear the name of the groom
16
Christ and the Church Head King Savior Builder Husband Foundation Body Kingdom Saved Building Bride House
17
1 Corinthians 3:11 For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
18
1 Timothy 3:15 I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. It would be folly to remove a house off of its foundation It is folly to seek Christ, without the church!
19
Conclusion The present day tendency to separate the exaltation of the Christ from His church just will not work! The two are inseparable!
