1 John 1:9-10, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.”

Doxology Bless the Lord O’ my soul, O’… my soul, Worship His Holy name! Sing like never before, O’ my soul, His name is worthy for praise! (2X)
4
Prov 3:5, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.”
5
Proverbs Chapter 14 Section II, Vs. 8-15, “Walking by Faith and Not by Sight.”
6
A 1, The prudent and fools, vs. 8. B 1, Making amends for sin, vs. 9. C 1, Secrets of the heart, vs. 10. D 1, The destruction of the wicked versus the prosperity of the upright, vs. 11. D 2, The deceptive way to death, vs. 12. C 2, Secrets of the heart, vs. 13. B 2, Being repaid for sin, vs. 14. A 2, The gullible versus the shrewd, vs. 15.
7
Verse 8 Contrasting the wisdom of the shrewd who take note of the consequences of their ways, with the folly of fools to deceive themselves and others.
8
The wise and prudent man is caused to understand what is going on in his daily life. He has insight and understanding to the situations he faces. He has a Personal Sense of Destiny.
9
The wise steer clear of deceit, knowing its harmful effects.
10
They are patient to ponder decisions, they understand and anticipate the consequences of their choices, and thus avoid trouble, cf. Prov 14:15f; 22:3.
11
The Contrast!
12
The Contrast! The fool is under self- deception and desires to deceive others.
13
Fools do not pay attention to their way, having no doctrine in their souls to learn from and have no PSD.
14
They deceive themselves into thinking that they understand, and therefore walk carelessly into the troubles that the wise avoid.
15
Verse 9
16
Verse 9 The fool mocks, scorns or talks arrogantly about his “sin”, ASHAM.
17
ASHAM, “offense, trespass, or guilt.” Used predominantly for the “guilt or trespass offering” in Lev, Num and Deu, e.g., Lev 5:15f, 18f, 25; 19:21f; Num 6:12; 18:9.
18
It corresponds to the confession of sins today in the Church Age.
19
Num 5:7, “Then he shall confess his sins (CHATTAH) which he has committed, and he shall make restitution in full for his wrong (ASHAM) and add to it one-fifth of it, and give it to him whom he has wronged.”
20
Isa 53:10, “But the LORD was pleased to crush Him, putting Him to grief; if He would render Himself as a guilt offering, He will see His offspring, He will prolong His days, and the good pleasure of the LORD will prosper in His hand.”
21
Fools who do wrong and scoff at the guilt offering would find no Divine or mutual favor and acceptance.
22
The Contrast!
23
The Contrast! The righteous believer will find favor with God and man because they are not sinning against them, not causing problems and harm, and do not have a deceitful heart.
24
As such they will have good will with both God and man.
25
If the upright did cause harm to others they would make the appropriate reparation to those offended, and commit the necessary sacrifices according to the Law, cf. Mat 5:23-24.
26
For us today in the Church Age, we would confesses our sins, regaining fellowship with God and man according to 1 John 1:7-9.
27
Fools mock at restitution, whereas those who are honest strive to honor their commanded obligations.
