3. He has many names, but is commonly known as Poseidon or Neptune (Neptūnus in Latin). Depending on which country you are from, Poseidon (Neptune) will be God of different things.  In Roman mythology Neptune is God of water and sea.  In Greek mythology Poseidon is God of Water, Sea, Earthquakes, Horses and Navigation. 5.  In Greek mythology Poseidon is God of Water, Sea, Earthquake, Horses and Navigation. (Poseidon.)  He is one of the 12 Olympian and is the son of Titan Cronus and Rhea. (Poseidon.)  Poseidon was Zeus and Hades brother. The oldest males in the family divided the Earth into three domains. Heavens/Skies, the water realm and the Underworld. Zeus got the skies, Poseidon got the water and Hades got the Underworld. (Dean, Gordon.)  Husband of Amphitrite which with her had Triton. (Poseidon.)

12. The Temple of Poseidon at the Cape of Sounion, Greece. Territorial disputes erupted among the gods and lands were quickly claimed. Poseidon had his eye out for the city of Athens, but so did Athena. So there was a contest. Poseidon stroked the earth with his trident and created a spring of salt water. Athena being the goddesses of wisdom planted an olive tree. When the locals realize you could make oil from the olive tree and it was a fruit, they chose Athena has the winner of Athens. 14. Does the planet Neptune remind you of any Olympian god? Our eighth planet in the solar system is named after our sea god, Neptune (in Italian). The planet’s astronomical symbol is Poseidon’s trident.

15. Poseidon had a role in the 1981 movie Clash of the Titans and the remake in 2010.

16. In the movie adaption of the book, Poseidon was casted as Percy’s daddy and Percy is being accused of stealing Zeus’s lighten bolt. The most powerful weapon ever created because it controls the skies. (Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief.)
