National Programs in the Classroom
How do you integrate FCCLA into your classroom? FCCLA IS intra-curricular – designed to use in class. Do not use co-Curricular. Look at many of your current activities that can be adapted to meet the requirements of a national program.

Career Connection Explore career pathways and skills for success in families, careers and communities. Can be used in any class to research careers related to course content. FACTS Put the brakes on impaired driving and traffic crashes. Through peer education help your friends arrive alive and lower the number one cause of death for youth in America. Career & Leadership lessons: Texting/distracted driving booth at local health fair Seat belt check after school Local mock crash Early Childhood Education Conduct car seat safety fair including car seat checks with CPST 5 Units Think SMART — Promote attitudes and provide events that keep youth from driving when under the influence of alcohol and other drugs. Buckle UP — Promote the benefits and safe use of seat belts, child safety seats, booster seats, and air bags. Arrive Alive — Promote safe driving habits, especially for less-experienced drivers. Speak Up — Promote the empowerment of teens to speak up for their safety. Bridge the Gap — Promote conversation and training for parents of teens as they work together to enhance traffic safety. Financial Fitness Manage your money! Use this program to help you make, save and spend your money wisely, to be financially fit. Early Childhood Education: Cost of raising an infant Any lesson on careers and researching cost of living and wages of a career 5 Units Banking Basics - Conquer bank accounts, credit, and investments Cash Control - Track and plan personal spending Making Money - Sharpen on-the-job financial fitness Consumer Clout - Become a savvy spender Financing Your Future - Apply financial skills to real life. Leadership Service in Action
Take action in your community and discover the difference you can make! This can be integrated into any class! The planning can occur in class, the event, drive, etc can be during or outside of school. Guest Speaker about Sex Trafficking in India – then students raise money to sponsor one of the children for $150/year. There are so many service projects that can benefit the content of any course! Power of One Give yourself the power to make a positive change in your families, careers and communities, one goal at a time. Units can be assigned all in one class or each in a different class. I require all students to complete “A Better You” of Power of One. All officers are required to complete. 5 Units A Better You — Improve personal traits Family Ties — Get along better with family members Working on Working — Explore work options, prepare for a career, or sharpen skills useful in business Take the Lead — Develop leadership qualities Speak Out for FCCLA — Tell others about positive experiences in FCCLA. STOP the Violence Empower youth with attitudes, skills and resources to recognize, report, and reduce youth violence. Early Childhood Education Raise awareness, research, etc. about child abuse Bullying and cyberbullying Dating violence Lesson plans on FCCLA Website

Student Body National peer education program helps young people learn to eat right, be fit, and make healthy choices. Its goals are to: help young people make informed, responsible decisions about their health, provide youth opportunities to teach others, and develop healthy lifestyles, as well as communication and leadership skills. 3 units Eat Right — Explore good nutrition, eating disorders, healthy snacks, supplements, vegetarianism, and more Be Fit — Take action related to lifelong exercise habits, obesity, sports training, and other topics Make Healthy Choices— Choose a positive lifestyle by avoiding drugs, alcohol, and tobacco; managing stress; building self esteem; and practicing good character.
