The Czech Republic flag has great meaning behind it. The white means peace and honesty, the red means hardiness, bravery, strength, and valour. The blue means vigilance, truth, loyalty, perseverance and justice.

The majority of the population of the Czech Repbulic are Roman Catholic. (About 26.8%). The beliefs of Roman Catholic are that there is a special authority of the pope, the ability of saints to intercede on behalf of believers, the concept of Purgatory as a place of afterlife purification before entering Heaven, and the doctrine of transubstantiation - that is, that the bread used in the Eucharist becomes the true body of Christ when blessed by a priest. They also hold to the doctrine of the Trinity, the divinity of Christ, the inspiration of the Bible.

The Burning of the Witches, April 30 -build a bonfire and prepare an effigy of the witch that kept winter around so long -tie two large sticks together to form a cross, then stuff old shirts, pants and socks with straw and place a pointed hat on the top of the stack. The witch is tied to a broomstick and set aside until darkness falls -When the fire is blazing, people roast sausages on sticks, strum guitars, and sing their favorite songs - As soon as it's dark, the effigy of the witch is brought out and held up for everyone to see. Then, it is thrown on top of the bonfire. As the witch burns, so does the last of winter's chill.

Pickled Sausages Ingredients 4 cups water 2 tablespoons salt 4 cups distilled white vinegar 10 drops red food coloring (optional) 10 links smoked beef sausage Directions In a large pot over medium-high heat, combine the water, salt, vinegar, and red food coloring. Bring to a boil. Cut the sausage links into halves or thirds, depending on size, and place into a large sterile jar. Pour the hot vinegar mixture in with the sausage, secure the lid, and let stand for 2 days before serving.
