SRTD - I . ( ) SRTD - II (2013 – 2016) Grants 60 grants 30 Research, 30 Start Up Businesses. Minimum Minimum 40 applied research, Minimum 20 commercialization. Areas of Interest Agro, biotech, energy, environment (water), food, health, ICT and nanotechnology Energy , Food Health , Water Based on national R&D priorities

THE NEED FOR R&D The National Agenda of Jordan ( ) identified three characteristics of a growth oriented economy: i) Innovation and technological advancement, ii) Expansion of entrepreneurial activities iii) Support of start up business. The main keys to achieve these objectives Matching the business sector with the research and academic community

THE NEED FOR R&D The main problem in the Jordanian R&D and Innovation sector has been identified as the little “Commercialisation & Marketing Potential” of research community output. Main Reason The Focus of a large part of the research community is on publishing scientific articles. not on commercialisation of RDI.

Definition : WHAT IS A GRANT
The Grant is Financial donation by the contracting authority (HCST) To support the implementation of an action (Research) Co-financing from the beneficiary of the Total Eligible Cost The grant beneficiary is the owner of the action and its results

Grant schemes The overall indicative amount made available under these Calls for Proposals is € 1, 800,000 To finance a minimum of projects of: minimum amount: € 10,000 maximum amount: € 25,000 This amount must be between the minimum and maximum percentages of total eligible costs of the action Minimum percentage: 50% of the total estimated eligible costs. Maximum percentage: 80% of the total estimated eligible costs. The % remaining balance must be financed from sources other than the SRTD II or the European Development Fund APPLIED RESEARCH COMMERCIALISATION €1.100,000 €700,000

Eligibility of Applicants
In order to be eligible for a grant, the applicant must: Be legal persons and resident in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Be a specific type of organisation established in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan or in a Member State of the European Union Be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action The applicant will become the Beneficiary, if he have a co-applicants working with him he will be identified as the Coordinator The Coordinator represents any other co-beneficiary and Coordinate the design and implementation of the Action. Co-applicant(s) must satisfy the eligibility criteria as the applicant and Participate in designing and implementing the action. Will become beneficiaries in the Action (together with the Coordinator)

Eligibility of Applicants
Applicant and co-applicants may act with affiliated entity(ies) Must satisfy the same eligibility criteria as Applicant and Co-applicant Will participate in design and implementation Will not become beneficiary of the action Have legal or capital structural link with the applicant This link should exist before the call for proposals and remain valid after the end of the action.

Application must be submitted in 4 copies 1 Original 3 Copies CD FA+CN Budget = The complete application form (Part A: concept note and Part B: full application form), budget must also be supplied in electronic format (CD-ROM). The electronic file must contain exactly the same application as the paper version enclosed. The Checklist and the Declaration by the applicant must be enclosed in the envelope. Each applications has to be sent separately.
