Procedure on Policy Prior to 2006 – Everything coming to a meeting including course proposals 2006-2010 – Nothing coming to meetings including College Policy 2010 – Two sets of bylaws – Charlie Hall Clause “Present recommendations on policy matters at the College-wide faculty meetings for ratification” 2014 – All sides of the house need to communicate – Academic Policy is coming to meetings Non-academic not so much 2015

Teaching Evaluations Students – Low Electronic Evaluations Turn out without grade incentives Faculty – Formatting the data for reviews is time-consuming and prone to “adaptation” – Issues with the instrument itself

Two problems Instrument – Needs to be revisited – Needs to allow for easy instructor added questions Delivery – Needs to be smart device friendly – Easy to use – Multiple emails to those who have not responded – Data needs to be tabulated and compiled by someone other than the instructor

IAS System Office of Educational Assessment at the University of Washington – Scott Shannon (March of 2014) – Reasonably Priced and Free semester trial – Various evaluations for the types of courses – Easily adapted – Can be paper or electronic – results electronically tabulated Committee approved – May of 2014 Computer bridges need to be built – Currently on hold

Any one of the following changes is considered major: Cumulative change from SED’s last approval of the registered program of one-third or more of the minimum credits required for the award (e.g., 20 credits for associate degree programs, 40 credits for bachelor’s degree programs) Changes in a program’s focus or design Changes in program title Adding or eliminating one or more options, concentrations or tracks Adding or eliminating a requirement for program completion (such as an internship, clinical placement, cooperative education, or other work or field-based experience) Altering the liberal arts and science content in a way that changes the degree classification of an undergraduate program, as defined in Section 3.47(c)(1-4) of Regents RulesSection 3.47(c)(1-4) of Regents Rules If none of these, the curriculum change is minor.
