Russia Under Czar Nicholas I, Russia became industrialized and working conditions decreased Socialist groups formed Government killed 100s as they presented the Czar with a petition-”Bloody Sunday” The Czar formed the Duma-legislative body. United States After the American Civil War, the U.S. passed the 13 th, 14 th & 15 th amendment

1860-1914: U.S. becomes more industrialized Iron Steel Economy 1900-World’s richest nation Richest 9% of Americans owned 71 % of the wealth Expansion Abroad Hawaii taken for the fruit they could grow

International Rivalries Otto Van Bismarck initiates an alliance with Austria-Hungary in 1879 and Italy joins in 1882-Tripla Alliance This is against France Bismarck aligned with Russia and wanted to stay friends with Great Britain By 1907-Britain, France, & Russia initiated the Triple Entente
