 roman republic the ancient Roman state from 509 BC until Augustus assumed power in 27 BC; was governed by an elected Senate  Plebeian is synonymous with lower class. In early Rome, the plebeians (also known simply as plebs  Patricians were the upper class of Rome. Two Latin terms are used to designate them, patres and patricii.

 Consul was an elected Roman magistrate, with regal power during the Republican period of Roman history  Veto was only given to the Tribunes of the Plebs. Originally, they were the magistrates who were responsible for looking after the interests of the Plebeian class.  Roman dictators, the Senate-appointed men who held this special position, served for 6 months at a time or shorter, if the emergency took less time, with no co-dictator, but instead, a subordinate Master of the Horse ( magister equitum ) magister equitum

 TIBER RIVER: The Tiber is one of longest rivers in Italy. It is about 250 miles long and varies between 7 and 20 feet deep. It is the second longest river in Italy; the Po, the longest.  The Tiber was the natural highway for traffic in Latium, and provided an early defense against neighbors on the other side of the river, which in the area of Rome runs approximately southwards. Latium

 ROME : is located right where modern Rome is now, in the middle of the Italian Peninsula, on the Seven Hills. Of course, it wasn't called Italy then. It was part of the Roman Empire. They valued the following:  Advanced roads and road networks  Triumphal Arches  Aqueducts  Bronze valves and water pumps.  Huge numbers of instruments and tools for engineering, construction and measurement. The Romans were, after all, excellent engineers.

 Ancient Rome was located about 17 miles (27 kilometers) northeast of where the Tiber River met the Tyrrhenian Sea. Rome's proximity to the sea meant that Roman citizens could participate in maritime trade; a trade route ran straight through Rome. In addition, ancient Romans were ideally located to achieve their conquest of the entire Italian peninsula within the Mediterranean Sea helped them build their empire.

 Rome did benefit from controlling the lands around the Mediterranean both for commerce and defense.  The Etruscan Conquest  Shortly before 600 BC Rome was conquered by several Etruscan princes from across the Tiber River. Dating from this period of time information about Roman history is slightly more reliable, though it is still mixed with myth and legend.  Under the rule of the Etruscans Rome grew in importance and power. Great temples and impressive public works were constructed. Trade prospered, and by the end of the 6th century BC. Rome had become the largest and richest city in Italy.
