WRITE IT DOWN!!! SUMMARYDATES The Emancipation Proclamation was an attempt to abolish slavery in confederate states. This was an unsuccessful act, led by Abraham Lincoln. It was suppose to secure slaves that hid behind enemy lines but,only angered the south. August 22, 1862– First proclamation declared slaves free in confederate states in America. January 1, 1863-- The second order; Lincoln issued ten specific states that the proclamation applies to.

WRITE THIS DOWN TOO KEY LEADERSEFFECTS OF EVENT Abraham Lincoln- Appointed the Proclamation General John C. Fre’mont- Appointed general by Abraham Lincoln General David Hunter- General of the Union Army. It immediately secured freedom of states that were in rebellion. Interesting fact: the proclamation also let African Americans join Join the Union Army.
