FTA Region IV Environmental Program Updates Region IV has one Environmental Program Specialist (EPS) – Brian Smart Our EPS is a resource that can be used for: o Determining appropriate classes of action o Participate in Environmental scoping o Provide technical assistance throughout NEPA process Please engage our EPS/Planners early in the NEPA process to determine likely class of action 10

Coordinated Planning - Section 5310, 5316 and 5317 Programs Friendly Reminders: Coordinated Plans should be updated during the same cycle for metropolitan or state transportation plans: –5 years in attainment areas –4 years in non-attainment and maintenance areas Designated Recipients – required to publicly advertise the availability of funds and selection criteria and also publish a list of selected projects following the competitive selection process. 14
