User Interface

Cross Compliance Assessment Tool Quantitative impacts of all SMRs and GAECs will be computed using existing models; from the results, response functions or knowledge rules will be derived; Qualitative impacts will be assessed using knowledge rules; The response functions and knowledge rules will be integrated into one assessment tool; The impacts of pre-defined and user defined compliance scenarios will be computed within the assessment tool. We aim at a tool that will be quick and easy to use… Approach for the tool

Cross Compliance Assessment Tool The following successive steps must be taken: 1)Select a predefined scenario of additional compliance or refine predefined scenario 2)Compute all impacts of the selected scenario 3)Select the indicators for which you want to see the results 4)Select one or more scenarios to be viewed 5)Choose a type of output (spider graph, table, map) Now let us see how this might look…. User interface

Cross Compliance Assessment Tool Refine scenario of compliance User Interface Go  Scenario 2005 Scale EU NUTS2 Region Belgium Germany Great Britain etc Member State Belgium Select scenario Save Farm type Dairy ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ SMR GAEC  Wild birds directive  Groundwater protection  Habitats directive  Sewage Sludge directive  Animal Welfare directive  Food safety directive  Soil erosion  Soil organic matter  Soil structure  Min level of maintenance 0100 % 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 Select scale Based on selected country, for each SMR or GAEC, the level of compliance can be adjusted Select region to change compliance Select farmtype

Cross Compliance Assessment Tool Refine scenario of compliance User Interface Go  Scenario 2005 Scale EU NUTS2 Region Belgium Germany Great Britain etc MS Belgium 0100 %0 0 0 0 Save Farm type Dairy ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ SMR GAEC  Wild birds directive  Groundwater protection  Habitats directive  Sewage Sludge directive  Animal Welfare directive  Food safety directive  Soil erosion  Soil organic matter  Soil structure  Min level of maintenance 0100 % 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 Please wait while scenario “2005 user1” is being saved……. 85% Save scenario under given name, eg “2005 user1”

Cross Compliance Assessment Tool Refine scenario of compliance – compute impacts User Interface Go  Scenario 2005 Scale EU NUTS2 Region Belgium Germany Great Britain etc MS Belgium 0100 %0 0 0 0 Save Farm type Dairy ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ SMR GAEC  Wild birds directive  Groundwater protection  Habitats directive  Sewage Sludge directive  Animal Welfare directive  Food safety directive  Soil erosion  Soil organic matter  Soil structure  Min level of maintenance 0100 % 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 Please wait while scenario “2005 user1” is being calculated……. 50% Calculate new scenario

Cross Compliance Assessment Tool Impacts: select indicators to be viewed Economy  Agricultural marketi▼  Producer’s incomei Environment  Soil, water, air:i▼  Landscape:i▼  Land use: i  Biodiversity:i▼  Climate:i▼  Food safety: i▼  Health: i▼  Animal welfare:i▼ Next  ▼ ▼ User interface Now we should define the kind of impacts (indicators) we want to view. The indicators can be viewed on 3 aggregation levels: 1) per theme (Economy, Environment, Other) 2) per group of indicators (the first in the selection list) or 3) per individual indicator (following the group name) Other

Cross Compliance Assessment Tool Impacts: define indicators to be viewed Economy  Agricultural marketi▼  Producer’s incomei Environment  Soil, water, air:i▼  Landscape:i▼  Land use: i  Biodiversity:i▼  Climate:i▼  Food safety: i▼  Health: i▼  Animal welfare:i▼ Next  ▼ ▼ User Interface Let us view the aggregated results of all indicator groups in the themes Economy and Environment… Other

Cross Compliance Assessment Tool Define type of output and # scenarios to be viewed Next  Administrative zones  NUTS2 Sensitive areas  Nitrogen vulnerability Map Spider graph Score table Scale  Member state▼ Region  Belgium ▼ ▼ ▼ User Interface Now we must define the form of the output. The spider graph and score table are viewed per administrative region. These can be selected on 3 scale levels: EU, MS and NUTS2. The results are computed per Homogeneous Spatial Mapping Unit (HSMU) and can be aggregated on map to different regions and sensitive areas (e.g. nitrogen vulnerable zones, less favourable areas, high nature value areas,..) Scenario 1 2005 user1▼ Other Scenario’s 2005▼

Cross Compliance Assessment Tool Define type of output and # scenarios to be viewed Next  Administrative zones  NUTS2 Sensitive areas  Nitrogen vulnerability Map Spider graph Score table Scale  Member state▼ Region  Belgium ▼ ▼ ▼ User Interface Scenario 1 2005 user1▼ Other Scenario’s 2005▼ for Belgium Let us view the results by spider graph….

Cross Compliance Assessment Tool Define type of output and # scenarios to be viewed Next  Administrative zones  NUTS2 Sensitive areas  Nitrogen vulnerability Map Spider graph Score table Scale  Member state▼ Region  Belgium ▼ ▼ ▼ User Interface Scenario 1 2005 user1▼ Other Scenario’s 2005▼ Present situation Simulation climate soil water Biodiversity Landscape air Producer’s income Agricultural market Impacts of GAEC soil erosion in Belgium 2005 2005 user1

Cross Compliance Assessment Tool Define type of output and # scenarios to be viewed Next  Administrative zones  NUTS2 Sensitive areas  Nitrogen vulnerability Map Spider graph Score table Scale  Member state▼ Region  Belgium ▼ ▼ ▼ User Interface Scenario 1 2005 user1▼ Other Scenario’s 2005▼ Present situation Simulation climate soil water Biodiversity Landscape air Producer’s income Agricultural market Impacts of GAEC soil erosion in Belgium 2005 2005 user1 We can also view output in a map

Cross Compliance Assessment Tool Define type of output and # scenarios to be viewed Next  Administrative zones  NUTS2 Sensitive areas  Nitrogen vulnerability Map Spider graph Score table Scale  Member state▼ Region  Belgium ▼ ▼ ▼ User Interface Scenario 1 2005 user1▼ Other Scenario’s 2005▼ Present situation Simulation climate soil water Biodiversity Landscape air Producer’s income Agricultural market Impacts of GAEC soil erosion in Belgium 2005 2005 user1 In that case only 1 scenario can be viewed and the option to choose other scenarios will be grayed out Choose what to show on the map

Cross Compliance Assessment Tool Define type of output and # scenarios to be viewed Next  Administrative zones  NUTS2 Sensitive areas  Nitrogen vulnerability Map Spider graph Score table Scale  Member state▼ Region  Belgium ▼ ▼ ▼ User Interface Scenario 1 2005 user1▼ Other Scenario’s 2005▼ Nitrogen vulnerability per NUTS2 region in Europe
