S6CS5 Students will use the ideas of system, model, change and scale in exploring scientific and technological matters. (6-8) S6CS6 Students will communicate scientific ideas and activities clearly. (6-8) S6E3 – Students will recognize the significant role of water in Earth Processes S6E5 – Students will investigate the scientific view of how the Earth’s surface is formed.

Tour Support Tour Coordinator– -Pre-tour and On-tour arrangements before and during the trip -Work closely with us to coordinate all activities -Interacts with hotel on group’s behalf -Arranges meals and transportation -Responsible for the proactive execution of the tour from the time we arrive until the time we depart -Coordinates accommodations at Holiday Inn and Suites

Night Security- -One security guard per floor from 10:30pm to 5:30am -All have had extensive background checks including FBI and drug testing -Will not enter into student rooms -Security will keep people that are not a part of our group separate from us -Will turn in a log with notes on how the night went

There will be four students to a room. Students may choose their own roommates. Teachers will approve the rooms and make any changes necessary. Students will remain with their roommates during the entire trip, including on the busses. Roommate selection will take place in February.

Students will be assigned to a teacher chaperone. This will be their group for the entire trip, including seating on the busses and in the hotel rooms. There will be one teacher chaperone per 10- 12 students. No student will be allowed to leave his/her assigned group. Students will be accompanied to each venue with their assigned teacher chaperone.

School appropriate clothing is to be worn during the entire trip, including on the busses. A t-shirt will be designed for the trip in a bright color. The t-shirt is an additional security measure to quickly identify our TRMS students. Information for purchasing the t-shirts will be sent home when it is available. Students are required to wear the designated 6 th grade t-shirt both Thursday and Friday. Students should wear comfortable shoes (no flip flops) while on the trip. Bring a jacket/sweatshirt as well as an umbrella or rain poncho.

Any student who receives an ISS (In School Suspension) or OSS (Out of School Suspension) at any point during the current school year will become ineligible for the trip to Chattanooga. Administration reserves the right to make the final decision on the eligibility of any student.

Pricing Trip Price: $228.00 for Students (Quad Occupancy) Price Includes: EVERYTHING except Souvenirs and required t-shirt! Registration Deadline: January 15, 2015 Trip Refund: Deadline for full refund if a student receives ISS/OSS is February 15 th. If ISS/OSS occurs after February 15 th, a partial refund will be given.

Fulton County field trip permission slips and medical forms will be sent home after the January 15 th deadline.

For students who are staying at TRMS on March 5 and 6, it’s not just business as usual! There will be two days of activities planned for the students to enjoy, focused around the film ‘Journey to the Center of the Earth’. The activities will be aligned to the same standards as the Chattanooga trip.

Students will kick off their adventure by watching Journey to the Center of the Earth. On a quest to find out what happened to his missing brother, a scientist, his nephew and their mountain guide discover a fantastic and dangerous lost world in the center of the earth.

Students will work in the computer lab to complete a Caves Webquest They will also investigate different types of igneous and metamorphic rocks

Students will participate in an Edible Car STEM Challenge!
