3 Leaders of Today and Tomorrow  Do for one what you wish you could do for all.  Do not allow the Fair Factor to hinder you.  Not all children are created equal.  Delegate authority.  Empty your cup, not required to fill their cup.  Embrace the season you are in.  Children are ready for leadership development, Are you ready to develop them?

4 Leaders of Today and Tomorrow  Some kids just have it.  They have and endless amount of energy that will be used for something.  Give them a 15-25 year head start.  They cognitively are able to learn more than adults.  They have influence to reach the Young Harvest!  They are waiting for someone to see their potential and pour into them.  The 10/30 Window: less to unlearn and fewer distractions.

5 Biblical Examples  Joseph: stood strong for what he believed  Samuel: served in the temple and listened to God’s voice  David: Anointed King  Josiah: King of Judah at age 8: humble heart

6 Beginning KC2L  Obtain permission of parents  Sign commitment form for 12 months  Set a F2F meeting 1-2 times per month  Maintain email and phone contact throughout the month.  Do not waste your time on people who are not receptive. Move on.  Can do individually or in small groups.

8 Months 1 & 2: Getting to Know You  What are your dreams and aspirations?  What are the barriers in your way?  What would you do if…  Worries and concerns  Heroes and people they look up to.  Leader they would like to become  Create a collage together

9 Month 3: Commitment Commitment means different things to different people: To the boxer, it is getting off the mat one more time than you have been knocked down. To the marathoner, it is running another 10 miles when your strength is gone To the soldier, it is going over the hill, not knowing what is waiting on the other side. To the missionary, it is saying goodbye to your own comfort to make life better for others. To the leader, it is all that and more because everyone you lead is depending on you. John Maxwell

10 Teaching Commitment  Give responsibility: Feed the Dog  Usher: arrive at church by 8:30am on Sunday  Praise Team: must attend Practice every Tuesday night at 7pm  Delegate Authority: allow them to use their own creativity and take the lead  Hold them accountable, if they do not follow through on their commitment, they must sit out.

19 Month 8: Integrity and Honesty  Integrity is doing the right thing when no one is looking.  Role models of Integrity  Share times when they have shown integrity.  Joshua 7: Achan  Larry Boy and the Bad Apple

20 Month 9: Problem Solving  Plane crash exercise  Need to get to camp by Saturday  Ask the child to share their ideas  Practice makes perfect.

21 Month 10: Confidence  All about Me: Poster  5 Weaknesses: turn them into strengths.  Decision making skills  Presenting confidently

22 Month 11: My Purpose  Jeremiah 29:11: God’s got BIG plans for ME  Jeremiah 1:5: ordained before birth  Puzzle Pieces  Place in this world only you can fit  What do you need to fulfill your purpose?  Using leadership skills to fulfill your purpose.

23 Month 12: Review and Release  The only real training for leadership is leadership  Give them roots and wings  Kneel humbly and allow this generation to get on our shoulders  Decide the next step for mentoring: will not be as formal.
