The IMMEDIATE Solution Team The Problem Solvers Country INDIA
2
Is Unemployment a serious problem ?? YES Affects 13.6% of world population Results in wastage of human resource Leads to Political Instability (as seen in Egypt) Increase in Crime & Violence is a critical aftermath Implies Fall in Living Standards Leads to Fall in demand of goods and services Fall in Revenue is a prominent outcome Impacts the health condition Results in Increased spending on unemployment benefit schemes Has a negative impact on the GDP of the country
3
The only good thing about unemployment The problem of unemployment doesn’t differentiate between the educated, the less educated and the uneducated or male and female. The magnitude of impact may be different but it effects all nevertheless…
4
The first and sadly the only thing which comes to our mind when we think of ‘unemployment’ is ‘lack of jobs’, however, it has a much more complex dynamic than this… The difficult part here, is not the solution, but the identification of the cause of the problem
5
A Concurrent Problem http://www.manpowergroup.us/campaigns/talent-shortage-2012/pdf/2012_Talent_Shortage_Survey_Results_US_FINALFINAL.pdf http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/skills-shortage-survey-says-canadian-employers-have-difficulty-finding-the-right-talent- 172439331.html http://articles.economictimes.indiatimes.com/2012-10-19/news/34584281_1_workmonitor-survey-randstad-india-cent-of-survey-respondents Few links that prove what I’m stating :: In a recent survey, 48% of employers from different countries of the world have reported that they are struggling to find, not only the highly qualified people, but also people with right skills for specific entry-level jobs for their organization, this is where the problem of Pseudo-Unemployment starts.
6
So, we are having a situation where employers are not able to find the right people and the people are not able to find the employers. Hence, the problem of unemployment shouldn’t be looked at in isolation, the solution presents itself when we look at the bigger picture. Therefore, before thinking of other ways of creating job opportunities like promoting entrepreneurship etc., we need to focus on tapping the currently available job opportunities, something which promises to give quick results..
7
What has given rise to such a situation ?? The education providers are not as dynamic in their approach as the industry professionals. The pedagogy is not updated in accordance with the current industry trend. There is a need for the education providers to co- ordinate with the industry to ensure that people are competent in all the required skills. This problem is not restricted to one country, hence nor is the solution.
8
What’s on Offer ?? What we are proposing is not a job search platform, nor does it arrange for jobs, neither does it trains people for jobs, what we are proposing is bringing the education providers and the employers at a common table. To structure an organization that co-ordinates with the employers and the education providers. It’ll keep track of the requirements of the industry and help it get met through education providers.
9
Our AIM : There shouldn’t be situation where a company has a vacancy because it is unable to find suitable candidate. We intend to do this by helping in formulation and updation of curriculum of educational institutes, helping vocational training institutes develop new courses specific to industry requirements, the possibilities are endless..
10
Future Perspective We intend to involve college students and volunteers from the professional world in this endeavour. The scope of this solution is difficult to predict as this has tremendous scaling up opportunities. But still, should be able to touch a 1000 youth at the end of the first year. The team members are willing to work selflessly for this solution to come to life.
