credentials Definition: Evidence of authority Sample Sentence: A reporter who covers at the white house has to have proper credentials to enter the press room there.

oppressive Definition: brutal, discouraging Sample Sentence: Sometimes the weather the narrator describes seems oppressive, like a weight bearing down on the characters.

genial Definition: warm and pleasantly cheerful Sample Sentence: Reporters have to decide how best to approach the people they want to interview. Should they be genial and friendly, or should they be tough and aggressive?
