KNOW The needs of your audience Your material thoroughly Logical, sequential order Who’s presenting what When it’s your turn to speak

PERCEPTION IS KEY Dress appropriately Look confident, not arrogant Remain calm and relaxed Speak slowly Enunciate clearly Show appropriate emotion Use vocal inflection when appropriate

BODY LANGUAGE Don’t lean, sway, tap, etc. Move and walk around the room when appropriate Make eye contact with your audience!!! Don’t stare at the teacher, the presentation, the floor, or the ceiling

VISUAL AIDES Master the use of software Double-check for grammatical and mechanical errors Do not overuse sound-clips, gaudy colors, embedded videos, etc. Make sure the print size is appropriate (Goldilocks) View your presentation as an audience member would

SPEAK WITH CONVICTION Know your stuff! Know when to STOP talking Don’t mumble If you made an error, correct it Watch the “ums”, “uhs”, “likes”, etc. Be confident Have a logical progression of information Have a solid opening, body and conclusion. Don’t say, “that’s it!”

DON’T…. READ DIRECTLY FROM PRESENTATION – Never do this! It makes it seem as if you do not know your material BUT DO… Use notecards Use the PPT as a guide Create an outline

PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE Practice over and over…with your parent, siblings, friends, dog. Practice! Time yourself
