Chinese Paper. If China didn’t invent paper, we would probably write on other things. China invented paper and paper money thousands of years ago. It took them many years to invent paper.

Years to make paper It took them 3,000 years to invent paper in China. When they invented paper it was another thousand years before people were using the paper all over Eurasia. In the 9 th century AD paper money was invented. Paper money could fly out of your hand because it is so light. Each person uses about 675 pounds of paper a year. People read over 2 million books, 350 million magazines and 24 billion newspapers.

How was paper made They used mixed copped mulberry bark and hemp rags with water, mashing it flat and then pressing out the water and let it dry in the sun. That is how they made paper. Surface of fresh paper is rough. Some people in China when they made paper some papermakers ran their paper though rollers to flatten and smooth the surface, other papermakers left the surface rough. Most valuable paper was made of cotton and sometimes silk. The Chinese previously only been making paper out of cotton and silk. This covering was made from thin strips of rounded bamboo stitched or laced together with silk, flax and animal skin. Other Chinese improvements in paper making these of starch as a sizing material and these of yellow dye which double as an insect repellant for many script paper.

Other things they wrote on before paper Before the invention of paper they used strips of wood and bamboo to write on instead of paper. Before the invention of paper, the turtle shell, animal bone, golden stone, bamboo slips, wood and cloth were used for recording and remembering things. The paper was used for men’s hat.
