I chose this topic because I have played baseball all my life and I’ve been doing a lot of different things to throw harder, but I never thought about long toss as one of those.

Long toss is the simple action of increasing the distance at which a pitcher is throwing. Long toss strengthens the arm, helps arm action, arm motion, arm extension, and arm flexibility. Long toss for 5-6 minutes at 150-180 feet.

Correct mechanics must be used while long tossing. No bench press is the best bench press for a pitcher. The problem with lifting weights is that it only focuses on the bigger muscles.

My research and product are linked because I wanted to teach young pitchers how to properly long toss to keep their arms healthy. Tri-fold

Doing this topic and product was a learning stretch for me because, as a pitcher, I was able to broaden my knowledge on long toss and how it enhances velocity for pitchers. I had to learn how to handle younger players because it is hard to keep them focused on what I was talking about.

JV Baseball team absorbed information very quickly and easily and was able to apply what I told them. Completed on time.

I learned that I am not very organized and I am definitely a procrastinator. This project will help me in the future because I have taught myself how to plan things on my own and get everything done on time.
