Content Area: Science Grade Level: Second Grade Summary: The purpose of this instructional PowerPoint is for the students to interactively learn about the variety of soil types. Learning Objectives: Given a soil type, the students will be able to distinguish which soil it is, with 100 percent accuracy. Content Standards: GLE 0207.7.1 Compare and record the components of a variety of soil types 0207.7.1 Sort, analyze, and compare a components of a variety of soil types. Accomplishment: Develop a knowledge of the different soil types and be able to distinguish between the different soil types.

Different Soil Types Sandy Soil : Dry and Gritty. Do not hold a lot of water and are not good for gardening. Clay Soil : Holds a lot of water and drain well Loamy : Perfect mix of sandy and clay. Great for growing plants!

Remember: Sandy Soil does not hold water and loamy is a perfect mixture of both!
