2. Delphi was an ancient Greek city in which the most important oracle of ancient world was located.

3. In Delphi there was the most important oracle of the ancient world. The city was called in Homeric times by the name “Pytho”.

4. At the beginning of historical times, it was one of the cities of ancient Fokis, but gradually the role of the city was strengthened and developed into a Panhellenic center and sacred city of the ancient Greeks. It was also the center of Delphic Amphiktionias.

5. Delphi maintained its important position until the end of the 4th century A.D., so there was an end to the operation of the oracle by command of the Emperor Theodosius Forum for. The next few centuries, the city and its historical role declined and was definitely abandoned to the Slavic invasions.

6. It is not known how and why the ancient Greeks built the famous Delphic Oracle. That was supported by the various deities that were protecting it in history. As the time went by, there had been several myths that tried to shed light to the origins of the Oracle.
