5 Advantages Works well in places with lots of water.

6 Advantages When dams are made it can improve landscape or leisure.

7 Disadvantages The lake created by a dam takes up lots of space. Some people think they spoil the landscape. The lake can flood farmland.

8 Disadvantages Costs a lot to build. For example, the Three Gorges Dam in China cost US$100 billion.

9 Disadvantages The water can be diverted to another place. There is a big problem when two countries share a river.

10 Disadvantages Dams can cause dirty water and pollution. In tropical places this can cause disease.
