© Imperial College LondonPage 4 Accident comprise – Unsafe Acts and/or Unsafe Conditions Unsafe acts –Using equipment in the wrong way or for the wrong task –Failure to wear protective equipment –Horseplay –Failure to warn others of danger Unsafe Conditions –Fire hazards, excessive amounts of flammable materials –Defective tools or equipment –Inadequate housekeeping, walkways blocked, materials incorrectly stored

© Imperial College LondonPage 5 Accident Prevention – What can you do? Do not cut corners, always use the correct equipment for the task Think of others, be observant Make sure you fully understand any instructions, if in doubt ASK NEVER ignore safety instructions REMEMBER ACCIDENTS ARE PREVENTABLE
