2 Insurance Program Designed To Protect M.U.S.I.C. Member Universities, a Member of the Michigan Universities Self-Insurance Corporation “M.U.S.I.C.” M.U.S.I.C. is an insurance and risk management facility that consists of 11 public Michigan Universities. M.U.S.I.C. was established in 1987.

4 Insurance Coverage Applies Liability losses occurring overseas and claims brought overseas against the University. Lawsuits brought in the country where the loss took place not in the US. Medical care needed overseas and travel assistance overseas only. US and territories (Canada, Puerto Rico) are not covered by this contract.

5 Insurance Coverages Foreign Commercial General Liability – Bodily Injury and Property Damages Caused By An Occurrence overseas – Legal Liability Protection – Third Party Lawsuits – Provides Defense

6 Insurance Coverages Foreign Property – Deposit Fee Reimbursement – Crisis Event required to trigger coverage. University loses its non-refundable deposit money – Study Abroad tuition Fee Reimbursement – Crisis Event required to trigger coverage. This covers tuition that the Institution is required to pay back to the students – Crime coverage - Employee Dishonesty

7 Insurance Coverages Foreign Business Auto Liability – Bodily Injury and Property Damages Caused By An Accident – Using Hired, Rented, & Non-Owned Vehicles – Legal Liability Protection – Third Party Lawsuits – Provides Defense – Physical Damage Insurance- (comprehensive or collision)

8 Auto Liability – What You Must Do Purchase all maximum coverage from the local foreign country with liability limits NO less than: US $10,000 each person, bodily injury US $20,000 each accident, bodily injury US $10,000 property damage You warrant that all travelers renting vehicles will buy this insurance whether the country requires it or not. If it is not purchased then you will have a $10,000 deductible

9 Insurance Coverages Foreign Workers’ Compensation – US & North American Employees (which includes foreign employees in the USA traveling with groups outside of USA) – During Incidental Business Trips – Outside the USA & Canada – State of Hire Statutory Benefits Apply

10 Insurance Coverages Travel Accident and Sickness – Outside the US, Canada, & Puerto Rico – Accidental Death & Dismemberment – Accident & Sickness Medical Expenses including unknown travelers not registered with Study Abroad office. Can cover 14 days for personal travel for employees – Emergency Medical Evacuation – Emergency Family Travel – Repatriation of Remains

11 Insurance Coverages Crisis Response Coverage for natural and man made emergencies – Outside the US, Canada, & Puerto Rico – Provides coverage for Crisis Management out of a Crisis Event – Provides for Crisis Costs – Must use listed companies to be reimbursed

13 Travel Accident and Sickness Coverage - $50,000 Employee Accidental Death and Dismemberment – $500,000 annual aggregate all accidents – 50% for Spouse and 10% Children $25,000 Accident and Sickness Medical Expenses – ($250 deductible) This is excess over all collectible insurance $100,000 Emergency Evacuation Expense $25,000 Repatriation of Remains Reimbursement of Covered Claims and Expenses

14 Travel Accident & Sickness Limits/Exclusions Civilian scheduled air carriers or Chartered Flights Sub Limit for pre-existing medical conditions - $1,500 Infections or diseases are excluded Damaged eye glasses or contacts are not insured Injury resulting from athletic participation in any professional, semi- professional, or interscholastic team sport Injury or sickness from alcohol or substance abuse Injury from any terrorist act Each covered person must be under 70 years of age Excludes self inflicted wounds

15 Travel Accident & Sickness Coverage Authorized business travel Schedule of benefits apply Coverage triggered by an accident that is sudden and unforeseen or unexpected Each covered person must be under 70 years of age

16 Persons Insured General Liability - Employees, Faculty, Student Teachers, Officers, Volunteers, Board Members and Students Auto Liability - Any Person authorized by the Insured Workers Compensation - US Employees Travel Accident & Sickness - Employees, Faculty, Students, Spouses, Children, Board Members, Directors, Officers without regard if registered with Study Abroad.

Coverage Territories GL, Auto, Travel Accident – an occurrence or an accident other than in the United States (including its territories and possessions), Puerto Rico, & Canada. Furthermore, any claim occurring in a territory or country, which is in violation of any applicable US Treasury Department economic, trade or "OFAC" sanctions, enforced by the US Treasury Department.

18 Who Must Comply With USA Sanctions All persons must comply with Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Department of the Treasury regulations, including US citizens and permanent resident aliens regardless of where they are located; All persons and entities within the US and; All US incorporated entities and their foreign branches. Fines for violations are substantial and would not be covered under this insurance.

20 Chartis International Services Call Travel Guard, when you are traveling outside the USA and Canada on a sponsored trip and you need help finding or arranging services such as: Medical or Travel Emergency Service Legal Advice Lost Baggage or Passport Assistance Evacuation and Repatriation Emergency Message Center Emergency Cash (per personal funding source)
