Ordered Pairs An ordered pair comes in the form (x,y) with x always first and y always second The x value refers to the numbers on the x axis The y value refers to the numbers on the y axis
3
Coordinate Plane The coordinate plane consists of 4 quadrants Starting in the upper right hand corner with quadrant 1 and moving counterclockwise to quadrant numbers 2, 3, & 4. There are 7 different places in the coordinate plane. What are they?

Plotting Points To plot a point on the x,y axis, always start at the origin. Using the x value, move left or right on the x axis depending on whether the x value is positive or negative. Using the y value, move up or down on the y axis depending on whether the y value is positive or negative.
6
More on plotting points For every 1 point on a graph it takes two numbers to identify the correct location. Think of a game of Bingo as it needs both a letter and a number to identify the correct square.
7
Plot the Point (2,3) (2,3)
8
Plot the Point (-2,-1) (-2, -1)
9
How is each Pt. Different? (2,3) (-2,2) (-2,-1) (3,-1)
