This image shows the Ginhouse/Blackwood Field in 1938, it is the field with the white stripe and white block. Note the three rectangular lines along the eastern edge of the field where the hangars stood from 1921 to 1928. The storm water mitigation project will affect this area. Also note the drainage pattern. Aerial image, March 1938 LHA Photo Collection P1180.

This 1996 aerial photograph shows the condition of the field and the development along its eastern edge separated by Shute Lane. The projecting line of trees in the top right corner is roughly the location of where the culvert under Shute Lane spills out onto Hermitage property. Note the straight drainage line now visible across the field. Images from 1996 Overlay, Metro Mapping and GIS

This 2004 Image shows the condition of Blackwood Field and the continued incising. Note that cotton gin site has been located and defined in this image. Discovered by Hermitage Archaeology in 2003. Images from 2004 Overlay, Metro Mapping and GIS.

This 2008 image highlights the growing severity of the incising. Note along the bottom edge of the field the grassy area that represents the location of the cotton gin and pit press. Note along the right hand edge the brush and trees that have overgrown the site of the Blackwood Field hangers. Images from 2008 Overlay, Metro Mapping and GIS.
