Density functional theory (DFT) –Typically 100 atoms, accurate if E xc reliable –Handles “difficult” systems without problems QM/MM –Typically 10,000 atoms –DFT accuracy at active site, environment effects included MM or MD (force fields) –Fast, but inaccurate, no bond-breaking etc. Walter Kohn
