3 Greece in Europe We come from Greece- a small country in the south of Europe. It has about 11.000.000 inhabitants Location of Greece (deep orange)

4 Greece and its parts Greece has a lot of islands and mountainous areas. It is divided into 13 parts. We are in the North part just 120 Km away from Thessaloniki

5 Greek Macedonia Greek Macedonia is the second largest prefecture in Greece,it is one of the most beautiful regions of Greece and its capital, Thessaloniki is the second largest city in Greece.

6 The perfecture of Kozani Kozani is the largest prefecture of Western Macedonia of a 3562 square kilometres area and 150,431 people according to the 1991 census. It is studded with archaeological sites, historical monuments and bustling cities full of life and prosperity thanks to trade and deposits of lignite.(Greece has 52 prefectures).

7 The town of Kozani Kozani (Greek: Κοζάνη), capital of Kozani Prefecture. It is located in the western part of Macedonia. 14 This is the 2nd Primary School of Kozani We are 20 happy teachers and 250 happier students.

15 This is our headmaster Our headmaster is Thanasis Zahos.

16 These are some of the teachers in our school The others were busy at that moment. We posed in a typical classroom on the opening day! Ms Despina Soumelidou is our vice headmaster.

17 Some people more The president and the vice president of the Parents Association which is really very active and helpful for the school. The music teacher in a relaxing moment

18 In our school -There are A small canteen for snacks which our students have during their breaks. The 2 classes of kindergarten for children aged 4-5 and 5-6. Two offices for teachers - smokers and non-smokers and the headmaster’s office. 14 classes for the needs of teaching.

19 Our classrooms There are 6 grades in the elementary (or primary) school,2 classes for each. Each class has its own classroom. There is also a classroom for foreign languages And a classroom for the daily school, where children eat.

20 Teachers and classes Every teacher has a class - he is responsible for this class and teaches all the subjects. All teachers are qualified to teach all subjects in all classes. The P.E, music and foreign languages are taught by specialized teachers who are qualified to teach the specific subject.

22 The subjects In the first and second grade students have Language, Maths, Environmental Education, Arts, P.E. and cross-curricular subject. They come to school for 25 lessons per week. In the third and fourth grade English, History and Religious are added. They come to school for 30 lessons. In the fifth and sixth grade French or German, Geography, Science and politics are added. They are in the school for 32 lessons.

23 Hours in the school The official program starts for students 8:20 and finishes at 12:30(kindergarten) 13:20 for the grades 1,2,3,4 14:00 for the grades 5,6 (not everyday) There is also the daily school (not obligatory) from 12.30 till 4.00. Children stayed at school for extra lessons.

24 Here We are four people: Maria Chantzi (one of the English teachers) Antiopi Gigantidou Rossetta Skraparli (both teachers of the 1 st grade for this school year) Georgios Papadopoulos (the P.E. teacher)

25 The Greek working team We are the four of the sixteen that are eager to work and try our best. We are waiting for you in February to join in and feel the winter festival of carnivals and its cultural dimensions in the school and everyday life!!!
