3 eCrime Unit (eCU) The primary mission of the eCrime Unit is to investigate and prosecute multi-jurisdictional criminal organizations, networks, and groups that perpetrate identity theft crimes, use an electronic device or network to facilitate a crime, or commit a crime targeting an electronic device, network or intellectual property.

8 HTTAP Program Mission The mission of the HTTAP Program is the investigation, apprehension, and prosecution of high technology crimes and to combat identity theft. High technology crimes (or cybercrimes) are generally defined as any type of illegal activity that makes use of the internet, a private or public network, or an in-house computer system.

10 eCU Objectives Provides investigative, legal, and prosecutorial support for technology crime or identity theft crime investigations to those rural counties that are not represented by an HTTAP-funded task force

11 eCU Objectives Provides coordination for out-of-state technology-crime or identity theft crime investigation requests

12 eCU Objectives Provides legal support for state-operated digital forensic laboratories

13 eCU Objectives Develops and provides training for judges, prosecutors, law enforcement officers and the public on the importance of strong information-security practices and evolving technology-related or identity theft crime issues
