The boys soccer team won the 2015 Jon Metcalf Highland Cup over Spring Break. They defeated Lenoir City 2-1, Morristown West 3-1, and Smyrna 5-2 to claim its first tournament championship since 2008. Boys soccer players should meet at 3:00pm in the wellness classroom today. Team pictures will be taken at 4:30pm at the soccer complex. Players need to wear their home uniform and goalkeepers should wear all red.

Come by or contact the D-B Counseling office for an appointment. Seniors and Parents Need help with the FAFSA, ACT registration, or final college applications? Seniors and parents can sign up for an individual appointment for this service available at D-B on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The Indian Baseball Team won the Hanahan Invitational Tournament in Charleston, SC last week by going 5-0 and beating West Ashley, SC in the Finals 8-2. Caleb Cook was the Most Valuable Player of the tournament as he got the Win in 2 games and also hit 2 big Homeruns in the Semi Finals and Championship Game. Hunter Wolfe was outstanding as well, going 12 - 17 in the tournament and hitting 2 Homeruns in the Semi Final game and going 4 - 4 in the Championship game. Alex White hit the go ahead 3 Run Home Run in the Championship game as well. Other pitchers that had great outings in the Tournament were Jeb Lambert, Drew Pierce, Darius Peterson and Logan McDavid. The team is back on the Diamond here at J. Fred today vs. Tennessee High at 6:00.

Dobyns-Bennett Freshmen & Sophomore students will attend Career Day @ Northeast State Community College from 8:30-1:30 on Friday, April 17, 2015 Students report to the cafeteria at 8:20. Buses will depart promptly @ 8:30. Lunch will be provided by Northeast State Community College. Students must follow the policies & procedures outlined in the 2014-2015 student handbook. PERMISSION FORMS ARE DUE BY FRIDAY, APRIL 10, 2015

Final round of the 2 nd Annual Tri-Cities Poetry Slam will be hosted by the JC Poets Collective in the OLD SOUTH BALLROOM (formerly The Battery). Wednesday, April 8 @ 7:30. Dobyns-Bennett has two of the three finalists competing that evening: Dawn Strobel and Kelli Frawley. Come out and cheer on our D-B slam poets!

Tickets will be on sale beginning Monday April 13th –Friday April 24th before and after school (ONLY) in the D-B Activities office. Tickets are $25.00 each and financial obligations to D-B and attendance will be verified before tickets will be sold.

D-B’S TARDY / ABSENCE POLICY REMINDER Please remember that participation in prom and graduation ceremony are tied directly to attendance. Students who accrue instances of tardiness or absenteeism greater than 10% of the time in any one class will be ineligible for these activities.
