Issues in PG Work 4 Bristol University as a ‘research’ university 4 Some staff do not value/enjoy teaching 4 Lack of time (or perceived lack) 4 No specific person in faculties/depts responsible for PGs 4 No system for ensuring that PGs who teach are qualified

Ways Forward (1) 4 More links between the ‘central’ staff and the person in each department who is responsible for overseeing PG teaching 4 Notes from discussion of PG observation sent to T&L staff

Ways Forward (2) 4 Mentor training for staff 4 T&L staff to give support in leading departmental training for PGs 4 Encourage PGs who later become permanent lecturers to become mentors 4 Build a data base of lecturers who show strong commitment to T&L (to mentor other PGs )
