Princeton Drill [How to use: click on “Slide Show” above. Next click on “From Beginning.” Finally use the "page up" and "page down" key on your keyboard.]
2
Princeton Drill We call this “Princeton” because both of the offensive players are looking to “post up” their defender. [The “p” in each term matches.] Set up a 2v2 (2 offensive players vs. 2 D) in the 8m arc. Set 3 feeders outside the 12m: at the wings (elbow extended) and top. One ball moves on the perimeter, looking for an opportunity to feed the 8m cut and/or post up. The 2 offensive players are the only ones who may shoot.

Princeton Drill (cont.) Of course, it would be nice if the D does nothing as in the slide, but obviously they tend to defend. Emphasis: – Work with offensive players in the 8m on how to work together to get open: post-ups, screens, re-screens, cuts, etc. – Work with feeders to see timing of their passes, define when a stick is “open,” etc. – Work with the defense to defend screens, avoid being boxed out, etc.
