The Battle of Trenton Location & Dates Trenton, New Jersey December 25-26 What Occurred On the night of December 25, George Washington and 2,400 American soldiers crossed the Delaware river just north of Trenton New Jersey, when Washington’s men landed on the other side, they marched 9 miles to southern New Jersey. Washington caught the Hessians off guard, after a brief battle, two thirds of the 1,500 man garrison was captured. Only a few escaped.

The Battle of Princeton Location & Dates Princeton New Jersey January 3 What Occurred On January 2, George Washington held of a British attack, He then circled around the British army and flanked them. George learned that General Hugh Mercer clashes with two regiment of the British, and needed reinforcements, so Washington gathered up some men and sent them to help, Hugh’s men were in retreat, which caused the minute men to retreat, But Washington rode up and rallied the continental forces to victory!

The Battle of Brandywine Creek Location & Dates Pennsylvania – Chadds Ford Township – Delaware county September 11, 1777 What occurred Washington’s men set up behind General Howe’s men and was getting ready to attack, but Howe took the bulk of his army and took them around the Brandywine river, due to poor scouting, Howe’s men went almost undetected and flanked Washington and his men

17. The winter at Valley Forge The winter at Valley Forge was one of the turning points in the war. Washington’s forces became trained soldiers under the direction of Drill Master Friedrich von Steuben, a Prussian Commander. Von Steuben spoke no English and was brought to America by Benjamin Franklin. It was the six month camp site for George Washington, going from December 19, 1777 to June 19, 1778, no battles were fought.
