4 Recommendations The outcomes of the HRCA Quick Check self-assessment provide an optimistic indication of the Human Rights situation in China. However, take into account that this is just an indication. Total of 80,3% true response is positive considering 12 departments, 5 depots and different levels within the organisation were involved. Several answers refer to action plans and room for improvement. It is highly advised to start incorporating the planned actions as soon as possible. Not only in order to achieve SA 8000 certification but also to reach a higher level of professionalism within the depots and TNT China. Management should be fully aware of action plans identified through the self-assessment. Management support considered very important for incorporating and starting action plans. A follow-up on the quick check is possible with the complete HRCA assessment. It provides the possibility to focus on specific improvement or concerning areas. Corporate Head Office fully supports these initiatives.

5 Conclusions Excellent approach of conducting the self-assessment All representatives throughout the BU China were involved. This increases the reliability of the results Employees within the depots and throughout TNT China were very positive about the quick-check: it gave them the opportunity to think about the several issues No high priority nor alarming issues identified The results will be published in our Social Responsibility Report 2006
