31 October 2006 M. De La Peña Software Cross-Training Session LBT TCS - ECS 3 The Role of ECS ECS is primarily responsible for controlling mechanisms associated with the enclosure (aka the rotating portion of the building). A majority of these mechanisms affect the environment of the observing chamber, the mirror cells, and the instruments. The ECS does NOT control the rotation of the enclosure.

31 October 2006 M. De La Peña Software Cross-Training Session LBT TCS - ECS 4 The Role of ECS ECS also is the communication channel through which LBT obtains mountain weather data from the SMT. The weather data is important to the decision making done by the ECS, PMC, and the TO, as well as computations for the PCS. Finally, ECS is also slated to handle monitoring of the UPS devices and the building fire alarms.

31 October 2006 M. De La Peña Software Cross-Training Session LBT TCS - ECS 13 ECS Design ECS is not a “sided” subsystem in the sense of PMC where there are physically different controllers. ECS accesses only one PLC. Any “ECS subsystem” may control a multiplicity of hardware components. ECS classes are mapped directly to their hardware counterparts (e.g., Damper.[h/cpp]). Many ECS classes utilize composition in that they are comprised of many components.

31 October 2006 M. De La Peña Software Cross-Training Session LBT TCS - ECS 15 ECSGUI Design … There is a single ECSGUI which handles all ECS/ECSPLC commanding and status. ECSGUI classes are mapped directly to their hardware counterparts (e.g., GDamper.[h/cpp]). ECSGUI classes rely heavily on inheritance (similar components) and composition (reflecting the literal composition of the GUI page). There is a single WXGUI which displays mountain weather information.
