Landmarks Here are 3 of Maryland’s most popular/famous landmarks. First, Maryland is home to the Washington Monument which is in Baltimore. This pillar stands 178 feet tall! It is also a monument built to honor George Washington.

Landmarks (cont.) Next is the Chesapeake Bay Bridge this bridge is in Annapolis and is an underwater bridge running north and south and runs through a small part of the Atlantic Ocean then becomes an above water bridge for a longer period of time.

Landmarks (cont.) Finally there’s the Antietam Historical Battlefield. This historic site is where General Robert E. Lee’s 1 st invasion north ended. It also marks the bloodiest day of the Civil War with a death count of over 23,000.
