4 State bird Maryland’s state bird is the Baltimore Oriole.

5  Maryland’s state flower is the Black-Eyed Susan.

6 State seal The state seal has the flag of Maryland, their motto, and a verse from the bible. Also, it holds a fisherman and a farmer.

7 State tree State tree Maryland’s state tree is the White Oak.

8  “Maryland, My Maryland!”  This song was written by James Ryder Randall.  It was originally written as a poem and was set to the tune “Oh Christmas Tree.”  The lyrics are about Maryland’s history, geography, and historical figures.

9 State flag Maryland’s state flag is. The black and gold belongs to the Cecil Calvert family, who founded Maryland and the red and white design belong to the Crossland family which was Cecil’s mother’s maiden name. 12  Maryland’s climate varies depending on what part of the state you’re in. For example, Baltimore and other towns close to the shore have a warmer climate than areas in the west.

13 Famous person from the state Two of the most well known people from Maryland are Babe Ruth, the famous baseball player, and John Wilkes Booth, Lincoln assassin.

14 Map and location of the state Maryland is located on the Atlantic Coast. Bordering states are Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, and Delaware.

15  The capital of Maryland is Annapolis. Annapolis is important historically since it was once the capital of the United States. Also, since it’s located on the Chesapeake Bay, Annapolis is an important port.
