Aim: Used for detecting the presence of monohydroxybenzene derivatives

Tyrosine, Tyrosine derivatives, Phenol

6 Principle: Phenolic group of tyrosine +Millon's reagent red color (mercury salt of nitrated tyrosine)

7 Millon's reagent: It is a solution of mercuric and mercurous ions in nitric and nitrous acids.

Principle: Tryptophan + Hopkins-Cole   H2SO4 purple ring

Aim: This test is specific for the arginine (guanidine group)
