WEB ACCESSIBILITY STRATEGIC PLAN
10
Recap Last meeting, results of the statewide AMP and CommonLook Clarity assessments of website accessibility were presented in summary. This led to discussion of how to actively engage agencies to drive down violations, raising the idea that we should develop a strategic action plan for doing so.
11
Working Group A working group was convened to draft a “framework” for this plan, to serve as a starting point. Mike Burgess, Department of Labor Kit Cole, The University of Kansas Matt Powell, Historical Society Cole Robison, OITS
12
Proposal Meet with agency web developers individually in a hands-on workshop setting to work with them to address some of their most basic issues Start slow, with a few “pilot” agencies AMP data used in agency selection to target greatest potential impact
13
Proposal Focus on in-house development (Question: What to do about third-party development?) HTML now, PDF later
14
Proposal Handling of the way agencies are invited to participate is key Informally when possible, to dispel any perception of onerousness With executive leadership, so development staff know participation is “approved”
15
Proposal 3–4 hour sessions On agency’s premises Provide overview of AMP findings + accessibility & 1210 intro if necessary Work on agency’s content Emphasize items that: Are most critical Can be addressed most quickly Occur as global or pattern violations
16
