Bell-Ringer 1. What is the purpose of an operating system? To organize and control hardware and software so that the device behaves in a flexible but predictable way

Bell-Ringer 2. At the simplest level, what two things does an operating system do? Manages hardware and software resources Provides a stable, consistent way for applications to deal with the hardware

Bell-Ringer 3. What is the single function of the bootstrap loader? It loads the OS into memory and allows it to begin operation.

Today Log on to the Pearson web site and set up an account. Using the online textbook, complete the Lesson 1-1 Graphic Organizer, "What Is a Computer?" Using the online textbook, complete the Chapter 1 Vocabulary Review.

Go to the site http://www.pearsoncustom.com/us/introcomp/ Click on Register

Under “Do you have a Pearson Education account?” Click next to No

Enter First Name, Last Name, and Email Address Select United States

Enter 23666 for School Zip Select “Other” for School Name Type in Bethel HS Type in Hampton Select Virginia

Select a Security Question and enter your answer Leave this un-checked

Click on Log In Now

If it shows “Shultz ITF” followed by your class block, click on Confirm If it doesn’t, ask for help
